Enrichment toolkit
Snuffle mats to flirt poles, and what each one is actually for.

A dog's brain burns more energy solving than sprinting. Ten minutes of nose work can settle a dog that a two-mile walk didn't - which is why enrichment is the fix for so many 'she's never tired' complaints.

Snuffle mat: A fabric mat with fabric strips you hide kibble in - the dog snuffles it out. Turns a 30-second meal into a 10-minute foraging job. Best first purchase for almost any dog.
Food puzzle or puzzle feeder: A board or toy with sliders, flips, and compartments hiding food. Start EASY - a puzzle that's too hard just teaches quitting - and supervise chewers.
Kong or stuffable: A hollow rubber toy stuffed with food and frozen. The workhorse of alone-time training: it makes departures predictive of good things. Stuff with their own soaked kibble to stay inside the calorie budget.
Lick mat: A textured mat smeared with something soft. Licking is self-soothing - excellent for nail trims, bath time, and vet-visit prep.
Flirt pole: A pole with a lure on a rope - stalk, chase, catch. Massive physical and drive outlet in a small yard, WITH a built-in 'out' cue. The safe answer to prey drive. (Never a laser pointer - a chase that never catches builds obsession.)
Long line: A 15-30 ft leash for sniffing freedom where off-leash isn't safe or legal. Not a training tool by itself - a safety net that lets you practice recall honestly.
Chew options: Appropriate chews are enrichment too - chewing lowers arousal. Match to jaw strength; see the treats section for the safety list.

Anything with food in it comes out of the daily ration, not on top of it.
